FANTASY FOOTBALL RUNNING BACKS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 15 – NICK CHUBB

Nick Chubb, a 2018 second-round pick out of Georgia, had an interesting rookie season.

For the first six games of the season, he had no more than three carries in a single game, even though in one of those performances he managed 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns. It wasn’t until the Browns’ seventh game of the year, a three-point loss against the Bucs, that Chubb broke out.

Starting in that game, Chubb finished the year carrying the ball 176 times for 823 rushing yards and six touchdowns. He added 20 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

So why isn’t he ranked higher than 15th? Two reasons: Duke Johnson Jr. and Kareem Hunt.

Johnson topped Chubb’s receiving numbers as he finished the year with 47 receptions for 429 yards and three receiving touchdowns. Even though he asked for a trade earlier this offseason, in the process making his quarterback super grumpy (poor Baker), Johnson remains a Brown and the backfield’s top receiving option.

Then there’s Hunt, the former Kansas City Chiefs running back. Though he’s back in the news, right now Hunt is set to miss just half of the games in 2019.

At the time of his return, one of two things will have occurred. First, Hunt will be fresh enough to handcuff Chubb, snaring a good chunk of the workload. Or, second, Chubb will remain physically healthy while securing a stronghold on the starting gig.

This being the Cleveland Browns, I’m betting on the former.
