FANTASY FOOTBALL TIGHT ENDS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 15 – GREG OLSEN

A few years ago, it would have been crazy for Greg Olsen to be ranked this low, but injuries have plagued him the last two seasons. It’s that reason and the fact that he’s 34 years old that have put Olsen at 15th on this list.

Olsen’s last full season came in 2016 when he totaled 80 receptions for 1,073 yards and three touchdowns. Over the last two years combined, Olsen started 16 games with 482 yards and five touchdowns.

Another reason Olsen might not be a full-fledged TE1 option this year is because of his quarterback. The Panthers have had Cam Newton as their quarterback since 2011, but the former first overall pick has been banged up the last few years. Newton had surgery in January and there’s no timetable for his return.

If Newton doesn’t play, the starts likely go to rookie Will Grier, who is obviously unproven. That could definitely hinder Olsen’s opportunities to get the football.

While Greg Olsen might end up being a terrific steal in fantasy football drafts this summer, don’t take him and expect him to be the same player he was three years ago because there’s a good chance that isn’t the case.
