CHIEFS WHO NEED STRONG TRAINING CAMP – DANIEL SORENSEN

Daniel Sorensen, better wise known as Dirty Dan, has always been a yearly player I put on the roster bubble. When Daniel Sorensen’s name comes up, it makes me think of a guy who always seems to find himself in the right place at the right time.

Now in his sixth season with the Chiefs, Sorensen will be looking to make an impression on new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and company. Coming into this season with over 60 games under his belt, it’s easy to see why many Chiefs fans may find him as a mere lock to make the team once again.

With new and returning faces coming in, it may not be as easy for him to find a place on the field. Having multiple years of experience on his side along with being a seasoned vet in the NFL, Sorensen has an advantage as to what the pace of play and talent is like at this level.

The depth ahead of Sorensen is a little more talented this year and getting back his starting job will not be as simple as last year. Other than newly acquired safety Tyrann Mathieu (Honey Badger), he will be battling it out this year with new and returning faces as well.

The main face in his position battle will be rookie safety out of Virginia, Juan Thornhill. Thornhill is a ball hawking playmaker who has a knack for finding the football wherever it is on the field. It is my belief that he will be the day one starter across from Mathieu come week one of the new campaign.

Other players he will be looking to stay ahead of on the depth chart are:

Sorensen could be one that will make the roster based on knowledge of the game and veteran presences alone but someone may step up and knock him out.
