RANKING AFC WEST TIGHT ENDS

NUMBER 3 – NOAH FANT

As a Nebraska fan, it pains me to compliment the Iowa Hawkeyes, but that program can churn out solid tight ends, with two of them going in the first round of this year’s draft. Noah Fant is one of those dominant Hawkeye tight ends and the Denver Broncos were able to land him with the 20th overall pick.

The Broncos haven’t really had much of a tight end presence since Julius Thomas bolted for Jacksonville years ago, but Fant provides an opportunity to buck that trend. He finished his 2018 season at Iowa with 39 receptions for 519 yards and seven touchdowns. He was splitting time with T.J. Hockenson, which limited his numbers quite a bit.

Picking up Fant in the first round was a solid move by the Broncos and even though they still need to get their quarterback situation figured out, the Iowa product will make an impact for them in year one.

Normally I’d automatically put the rookie at the bottom of the list due to not having seen the NFL field yet, but that shows what a joke the Raiders’ tight end situation is. Fant is the third best tight end in the division and could potentially jump up to the number two spot next year depending on how his rookie year goes.
