Man, when the Chiefs commit to a defensive overhaul, they go all in. In regards to the draft, instead of having to deal with an incoming rookie, the Chiefs traded away their first round pick in a package for Frank Clark.

Not only did Spags get a known commodity with the first rounder, the trade also included swapping third round picks with the Seahawks. This move up allowed the Chiefs to select Khalen Saunders, a defensive linemen who went viral for doing back flips on social media.

Not only did Saunders dominant Twitter feeds, but he also dominated the combine and Senior Bowl, helping silence some concern that Saunders’ poor college competition led to him looking better than he was.

We already mentioned the Juan Thornhill pick, so if we go down the list, the Chiefs new defensive coordinator received: a potential starting safety, a rotational monster on the defensive front, and a bona fide stud via trade at defensive end.

Spags had to be smiling during the entire draft process. Now that he has almost all the pieces he needs, he can get to work transforming this Chiefs defense from a laughingstock to a unit that can suffocate opposing offenses. The only thing now is to take care of that DB room, at least if you are asking Keenan Allen (by the way, we aren’t. One touchdown against Kansas City in his career. Next).
