CHIEFS TO RE-SIGN IN 2019 OFFSEASON – KELVIN BENJAMIN

This one might surprise some people, but bare with me here.

When the Chiefs brought Kelvin Benjamin in near the end of the 2018 season, it was mostly for depth. Sammy Watkins had been banged up and the hope was that Benjamin could come in and help the Chiefs offense continue to thrive.

Instead, Benjamin had just two catches for 26 yards. That’s not exactly what KC was anticipating when they signed the former first round pick.

Re-signing Benjamin is a good idea because it’s always good to keep a wide array of offensive weapons. Chris Conley hasn’t panned out, so after Tyreek Hill and Watkins, the Chiefs have Demarcus Robinson and Gehrig Dieter.

Benjamin is definitely better than Dieter and deserves another season to prove it. The Chiefs should at least give him a one-year deal to do just that. Hell, I mentioned in an article that the team should convert him to a tight end since outside of Travis Kelce, that position is lacking in depth.

Kelvin Benjamin is a former first round pick so clearly he has talent. The Chiefs just need to give him another year at the helm.
