ROYALS ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RBI: NUMBER 17 (TIE) – DAVID DEJESUS (390)

ROYALS OUTFIELDER FROM 2003-2010

Another Royal who has played for the team in the last decade is David DeJesus, who is tied with Alcides Escobar in all-time RBIs with 390. DeJesus was a fourth round pick by the Royals in 2000 and spent eight years with the organization.

DeJesus posted an average slash line of .289/.360/.427 with 61 home runs and had a solid rookie season in 2004. That year saw DeJesus post a .287 batting average with seven home runs and 39 RBI in a season where the Royals thought they could maybe become playoff contenders.

From then on, DeJesus was a fan favorite. The biggest issue with the outfielder was that he could not stay healthy during his tenure in Kansas City and eventually was traded to Oakland. DeJesus finished the final five years of his career with five different teams, including three teams in 2013.

The potential was certainly there for DeJesus, but injuries prevented him from becoming a big time playmaker with the Royals. He’s still tied for 17th all-time in RBIs for the Kansas City Royals.
