SIT ‘EM – WR

42. . Wide Receiver. 49ers. Marquise Goodwin. 3. player

Marquise Goodwin finally found the end zone last week, but unfortunately, that might be one of his only touchdowns this year. As most know by now, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL against the Chiefs and is now out for the year. That brings in backup C.J. Beathard, who is not remotely close to providing what Jimmy G does at quarterback.

Beathard was the Niners starter for most of last year and Goodwin had just two touchdowns all season long. Not exactly reassuring for those who drafted Goodwin thinking he could be a WR2 or solid Flex option each week.

Not having Garoppolo is bad enough, but this week the Niners get a tough Chargers defense. Also, Fantasy Pros brings up another good point: Goodwin is still dealing with a quad injury. There is very little reason to start Goodwin this week, so it’s probably best to keep him on the bench for the time being.
