FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS PURDUE

NUMBER 3 – GASHED ON THE GROUND

Not only could Nebraska not run the ball last week, but they couldn’t stop the run either. The Cornhuskers were shredded on the ground to the tune of 285 yards off of 45 carries and allowed Wolverine backs to find the end zone with their legs four times. It was not a fun sight to be had.

This week, the Huskers host a Purdue team that put up just 79 yards on the ground during their victory over Boston College. The Boilermakers have some good running backs, but they’ve been shut down pretty handily the last two weeks. Can Nebraska make it a third straight? Hey, allowing under 200 yards rushing would seem like a win after last week.

No, in all honesty though, the run game hasn’t been awful for Nebraska, but Michigan really took it to them in Ann Arbor. Purdue has some really good running backs, but like I mentioned not long ago, they’ve been held in check the past two weeks. That could either be a good thing or a bad thing. We’ll find out on Saturday.
