Fantasy Football 2018: Thursday Night Football Start Em, Sit Em Week 3
SIT ‘EM
While I doubt a lot of people have Sam Darnold on their fantasy teams, he’s not a good option to start this week. For one, he’s a rookie, which that right there means he’s a huge risk to throw into your starting lineup.
Rookie quarterbacks are very up and down and Darnold has proven to be just that so far. He had an electric week one outing, but fell back down to Earth last week, throwing two interceptions and just one touchdown. He did throw for over 300 yards though.
The other big reason to avoid throwing Darnold into the fire this week is that he’s going up against a surprisingly good Browns defense. I already advised fantasy owners to start the Cleveland defense and Darnold’s inconsistency and inexperience is the main reason for that.
The Browns have notched seven sacks already (Darnold has been sacked five times in two games) and forced three interceptions against the Steelers. Darnold is prone to both sacks and picks, so unless you’re in a REALLY deep league where you start multiple quarterbacks, why risk it?
