The defensive line for Kansas State Football will have a mix of new and old

During the spring game, the defensive line didn’t look very impressive. Some of that may be due to the fact that the offensive line is just that good, and they are. Some of it might be a sign of weakness at the position. Either way, on paper, the line shapes up fairly nice.

Reggie Walker – Last season was a bit of a step back for the 6’2″242-pound defensive end. Reggie Walker came out as a freshman and looked like the next big thing in 2016. He totaled 38 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and forced and recovered two fumbles. He spent part of the season hurt last year, and his production dropped because of it. Look for a bounce-back year for Reggie in ’18.

Trey Dishon – The big man in the middle, or at least one side of it, is a physical guy with huge upside. He has yet to reach his potential, but he has the ability to get to the quarterback. It has yet to be determined how much help he will be in stopping the run.

Drew Wiley – His role will be increased this year as a sophomore. He saw playing time as a true freshman in 2017, so he isn’t going into the season raw like some others. Drew only had three tackles n the season, and two came against Charlotte. Potential to start but it may be one season too early.

Kyle Ball – Ball is an exciting player to watch. He has playmaking ability on the defensive line, which is a characteristic that will land you on the starting roster. He was a First-Team Academic All-Big 12 honoree last season.

Bronson Massie – Pretty much an unknown at the moment. He has been making noise as far as potentially starting this season. Last year was a redshirt year for Massie but looked good in two games vs Iowa State and Texas Tech.

Massie may be on the outside looking in here but should get plenty of playing time regardless. Others that may see the field quite a bit are Chase Johnston, Wyatt Hubert, and Joe Davies.
