The schedule isn’t easy for Kansas Basketball and that’s ok.

Bill Self does a masterful job at scheduling the nonconference schedule each year. This year is no different. Coach likes to set up tough opponents for his squads early on to better prepare them for the tough stretch towards the end of the season and the big dance. He’s done it again this year.

The Jayhawks start the season against Michigan State in the Champions Classic on November 6th. The Spartans won the Big10 last year. Kansas lost in the Champions Classic to the Spartans in 2015. Here is the Jayhawks full 2018-19 schedule.

  • Nov 6th – Michigan State – Champions Classic in Indianapolis, IN
  • Nov 12th – Vermont – Home
  • Nov 16th – Louisiana – Home
  • Nov 21st – TBA (Louisville, Marquette, Tennessee) – NIT in Brooklyn, NY
  • Nov 23rd – TBA – NIT in Brooklyn, NY
  • Dec 1st – Stanford – Home
  • Dec 4th – Wofford – Home
  • Dec 8th – New Mexico State – Kansas City, MO
  • Dec 15th – Villanova – Home
  • Dec 18th – South Dakota – Home
  • Dec 22nd – Arizona State – Tempe, Arizona
  • Dec 29th – Eastern Michigan – Home
  • Jan 26th – Kentucky – Lexington, KY

The defending champs coming to Lawrence on December 15th should be a date circled on your calendars. The Jayhawks will be looking to pay back the Wildcats for the drumming they gave Kansas in last year’s Final Four.

December 22nd the Jayhawks look for payback again after ASU came into Lawrence and beat the Jayhawks on their home court. Another date to keep an eye on is January 26th, when Kansas leaves conference play to battle Kentucky yet again in the SEC/Big12 Challenge.

The NIT will be tough as well, with each of those teams capable of doing big things throughout the season. So yes, it is a daunting schedule, but nothing is new. Kansas has been here before.

Look for paybacks and a show of strength against these opponents this year. Domination.
