Damien Williams

One of the three Williams that Kansas City has signed over the offseason is Damien Williams. Spending the last four seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Williams primarily played a similar role that Charcandrick West plays in Kansas City. Miami has used Williams in minimal amounts in the rushing attack which makes him primarily a third down back.

Moving on from West for Williams who plays the same style and little contribution to the run game seems meaningless. West knows the offense and has been a part of the Chiefs culture for the last three years. Moving on from him for maybe a slightly cheaper option that isn’t much just seems pointless.

Williams is also coming off shoulder surgery which is a concern. During his time in Miami, he hauled in 85 receptions for 733 yards and six touchdowns. When it came to running the ball, Williams carried it 133 times for 477 yards (3.6 yards per carry) and three touchdowns.

West seems like the better option in this scenario as he has been with the team over the last three seasons and seen plenty of practice time with Mahomes. Moving on from him for Williams seems like a mistake in my opinion.
