ROUND 7 – PICK 15 (233RD OVERALL): BRANDON FACYSON, CB (VIRGINIA TECH)

Well, it took until the seventh round, but the KC Chiefs finally drafted a cornerback! They have David Amerson and Kendall Fuller as their two starters, but depth is key at such a vital position like cornerback.

Brandon Facyson has the size (6’2″ and 197 pounds) to be a legitimate cornerback, but he needs some work. Facyson could end up being a project for the Chiefs, but depending on how well Amerson and Fuller do, he could probably see some time on the gridiron this season.

Remember how I said the big boards were a huge key in where these players landed in the draft? Well, Facyson is a third or fourth round prospect according to NFL.com, but he fell all the way to the seventh round in this particular mock draft.

If he really is a third or fourth round talent and the Chiefs got him in round seven, I’d absolutely say that’s a win. Cornerback is a huge position in the NFL and the Chiefs traded their best one away this offseason. Time to build another fearful secondary and hopefully Brandon Facyson is a part of that group.

What the experts are saying…

"“He’s tall, he can challenge the catch, he’s smart and he’s a great teammate. I just see him as really limited. I’m interested to see how he runs because I thought he looked slow this year but he ran pretty well with (James) Washington on deep route and Washington can run.” — Former NFL defensive backs coach, NFL.com"
