FREE AGENT WISH LIST FOR 2018 – GREG HOLLAND (RELIEVER)

Yeah, so this one hasn’t even been talked about at all, but Royals fans would be pretty stoked if it did! Greg Holland was one of the best Royals closers of all-time and watching him shut things down for the Colorado Rockies last year stung, especially considering how inconsistent the Royals bullpen was last season.

The Rockies went on to ink another former Royal in Wade Davis, but Greg Holland is still out there on the market. Of course, Holland is a Scott Boras agent, so signing him won’t come cheap and that’s why there’s no way the Royals would go after him.

There’s been no mention of the Royals even talking to Holland nor has the former Royals closer been linked with anyone else. It’s been a weird offseason.

The Royals bullpen (or what we know about it so far) is going to be bad. The best arms from a season ago either hit free agency and signed elsewhere (Mike Minor) or were traded to free up money (Scott Alexander and Ryan Buchter).

Greg Holland, paired with his former “H” counterpart Kelvin Herrera, would at least provide some insurance in the late innings should the Royals get a lead in a game this season.
