Kansas City Chiefs: Replacing Bob Sutton
#3 Mike Nolan: LB Coach – Saints
If the Kansas City Chiefs want to hire Mike Nolan, they probably need to move fast. It’s only a matter of time before another team makes this move. As far as available defensive coordinator candidates go, it’s hard to find a better resume than Nolan’s. Plenty of head coaches will have him circled.
Mike Nolan has been the defensive coordinator for a number of teams, and has had a good deal of success doing it. He is well versed in both the 3-4 and 4-3 defense, meaning he can be flexible with the Chiefs. His experience and versatility should fit in very well with the Chiefs. Plus, he is showing what he can do with linebackers.
There is no obvious connection between Andy Reid and Mike Nolan, and that may be a hurdle. Reid tends to hire people that he knows for his senior positions. However, with their combined experience in the NFL, it’s hard to imagine that these two aren’t acquainted with each other. This would be a solid move for KC.
