Kansas City Chiefs: Replacing Bob Sutton

#4 Chuck Pagano: Unemployed

If the Kansas City Chiefs are intent on sticking with the 3-4 defense, then Chuck Pagano has to be on their radar. Despite a miserable head coaching tenure with the Colts, Pagano is still respected for his defensive coordinator work with the Ravens. This would certainly be a hire that gets some applause from the national pundits.

Chuck Pagano is a fiery guy who isn’t afraid to get in someone’s ear. That would be a huge change of pace in Kansas City. With Baltimore, Pagano put together some impressive seasons with some very solid defensive performances. He falls right in line with Rex Ryan when it comes to the history of the Ravens defense.

Chuck Pagano also falls into the Andy Reid coaching tree via John Harbaugh. That may or may not come into play, but it is an interesting connection. I know that many will point to the struggles of the Colts defense during Pagano’s time there (and you’re not wrong to do that), but this is a move that makes a good bit of sense for KC.
