Kansas City Chiefs: Replacing Bob Sutton

#7 Jack Del Rio: Unemployed

It would not be unthinkable for the Kansas City Chiefs to poach a former rival head coach off the market. Jack Del Rio couldn’t lead the Raiders anywhere, but he does have some credibility as a defensive coordinator. He may be a little over-hyped in that regard, but he would certainly bring some fire to the Chiefs defense.

I’ll say this right off the bat though, I’m more than a little concerned that he couldn’t do anything for the Raiders defense. Now, it wasn’t entirely Jack Del Rio’s job to fix the defense, but you have to imagine that he had some say in it. Still, Del Rio does have some prior success with the Broncos and Panthers.

Jack Del Rio may or may not be a good fit for Kansas City, but he would certainly be something completely different from Bob Sutton. That might just be what the personnel on this roster need. Maybe the problem is more on the motivational side than the scheme. I don’t think I would put my eggs in that basket though.
