Now we are getting into some strong reasons for the Kansas City Chiefs to go with Alex Smith over Patrick Mahomes on Sunday. Momentum and confidence play a big role in a team’s postseason chances. If a team can get things firing on all cylinders at the right time, they can be tough to beat.

After a dreadful stretch in the middle of the season this year, Kansas City has their confidence and momentum back. It may not be a good idea to mess with that. If this Chiefs team is in a certain rhythm, there is definitely logic to trying to keep that going.
Of course, there are a lot of professional athletes and coaches who don’t believe in that. Andy Reid’s history would suggest he is one of those coaches. Then again, his recent history with the Chiefs would suggest that changing that outlook might make sense. We won’t know until he tells us.
