The Broncos completely shut down the Jets run game last week, holding them to just 59 yards rushing on the entire day. That does not bode well for an aging Frank Gore, who is also splitting carries with rookie Marlon Mack.
Gore had a tremendous game last week in that blizzard, but that’s because running the football was the only option in Buffalo that day. This week is a different story. The Broncos run defense is one of the best in the league and they’re not going to let Gore break away for 130 yards on the ground.
Some people might see Gore’s numbers from a week ago and think he’s still a good starting option, but I’d advise against it. Denver’s defense has been pretty good at preventing running backs from having big games and they should be able to stop Frank Gore with ease.
