SIT ‘EM

player. 87. . Running Back. Panthers. Christian McCaffrey. 1

It pains me to say this, but Christian McCaffrey might be the most disappointing rookie so far this season. Fortunately it’s still early, but I wouldn’t bank on him having his breakout game this week.

For one, the Eagles run defense is fantastic. They completely shut the Cardinals down a week ago (though without David Johnson, that isn’t hard to do) and have been one of the best run stopping defenses so far.

Don’t believe me? They held Melvin Gordon to just 22 yards in week four and we’ve all seen how good Gordon is when he’s at this peak. This Eagles run defense is for real.

I wouldn’t have started McCaffrey in this game regardless though because he just hasn’t figured it out yet for the Panthers. In five games, he’s recorded just 96 yards rushing and just had his first touchdown a week ago (and even then, it was a shovel pass from Newton).

McCaffrey will be better used as a receiver soon, but for now, I’d keep him on the bench until the Panthers figure out what their role for him will be.
