START ‘EM

Panthers. Ed Dickson. 3. player. 87. . Tight End

Normally I don’t buy into the theory of starting a lesser known player after they have a monstrous game, but I don’t feel that way about Ed Dickson this week. Dickson, who is filling in for the injured Greg Olsen at tight end, destroyed the Lions last week.

Dickson ended his Sunday with five receptions for 175 yards with a long reception of 64 yards. Clearly the chemistry was there between Newton and his new tight end and perhaps that’s only the beginning.

Newton has always had a knack for targeting his tight end and clearly he feels comfortable with Dickson out there. The fill-in tight end shredded the Lions defense and while that type of performance isn’t expected to be repeated in week six, he’s still worthy of a start, especially if you had Greg Olsen beforehand.

Ed Dickson will likely be available in a lot of leagues simply due to not being a big name, so if you can pick him up before Thursday’s game, do it.
