Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp Preview

Dadi Nicolas – Outside Linebacker

When you’re talking about late round picks, it’s usually in regards to potential. For the Kansas City Chiefs, 2016 sixth round pick Dadi Nicolas has a lot of potential. However, that doesn’t always mean very much. If Nicolas can develop, he could be a solid player in the KC defense. If not, he’ll join the millions of former NFL players that didn’t make it in the league.

Dadi Nicolas does bring some quality tools to the field. He’s got good athleticism and moves well. In the 2016 preseason, he flashed some ability to get into the backfield. There is definitely something here to be intrigued by.

However, Dadi Nicolas did not have much of an impact on the regular season. As a rookie, he played just 28 defensive snaps and only 45 Special Teams stats. That is not production he can afford to replicate in 2017.

If Kansas City doesn’t at least see some Special Teams value in Nicolas, he won’t make he roster this year. That makes this a very important camp for Dadi Nicolas. He will need to make sure he separates himself from the pack early on.

Prediction

I’m going to guess that Dadi Nicolas has improved over the offseason. If that is the case, then he will make the roster and should see action on Special Teams. There isn’t a ton of competition at outside linebacker this year, so Nicolas doesn’t have nearly as tough a job as he could have.
