Way Too Early Starting Five

Power Forward: Billy Preston

Billy Preston is the new Josh Jackson of the Kansas Jayhawks. Preston is a freshman player out of high school with a lot of hype and a lot of potential. As a McDonald’s All American and a member of the Jordan Brand Classic Game, Preston has already impressed with his high school accolades and the athleticism he shows.

During his recruiting process, Preston said he was sold on Kansas when he was met with the feeling of family that the Jayhawks had per Tod Palmer of The Kansas City Star. Preston also referenced Bill Self telling him that he would have a spot on the team to grow and learn and improve as a NBA prospect.

Preston represents more than a regular star studded high school prospect. Preston signals a return to the bigger lineup that Self is usually famous for in Lawrence. With Preston now a most likely candidate for power forward, and Vick and Graham owning the backcourt, Self should have plenty of big and small weapons on offense next season.
