Way Too Early Starting Five

Shooting Guard: Lagerald Vick

Another player that has earned his right on the starting lineup is Lagerald Vick. Vick has gone from a unrecognizable point guard backup to an explosive guard with great ability at defense. Vick has also trusted the system that Bill Self laid forth to be a frontrunner for the shooting guard position. That is, if he stays out of trouble.

Vick’s value is unbounded for the Jayhawks as long as he continues to work.

Last season Vick was one of the main players involved in Josh Jackson’s vandalism case. During last season Vick averaged 7.4 points, a 44.3 field goal percentage, and three total rebounds. Vick is the kind of player that continues to build and grow with advice from Bill Self. Vick can really prove his worth with an impressive campaign during his junior year.

Vick is very similar to Devonte’ Graham. He is a underestimated workhorse that puts his play where his mouth is.

It seems that lately Bill Self has been able to easily identify and recruit these kind of players. Players with hard work ethics and a desire to improve are extremely valuable. Vick’s value is unbounded for the Jayhawks as long as he continues to work.
