ALEX GORDON

As I’ve stated in my past few “Five Players to Watch” posts, until he starts hitting above the Mendoza line, Alex Gordon is going to continue to be listed here. Before the conclusion of Thursday’s game against the Yankees, Gordon was only slashing .168/.283/.206 with seven RBI.

Gordon has yet to hit a home run either, which is starting to become a lingering thought for all fans. When will Gordo “get hot”? Will Gordo ever “get hot” again for this team?

Since inking his mega contract over a year ago, Gordon has not been producing. He’s becoming a lost cause at the plate, but the good news is that he had a game where he went two-for-three against the Yankees.

Even after this current group of players are either traded or sign elsewhere, Gordon will still be around and there’s nothing that the Royals can do about it. They can’t bench him or demote him and I highly doubt another team would be interested in a 32 year old outfielder who is batting .168.

Gordon still has it defensively, but that’s not entirely what he’s being paid for. Perhaps this series against the Twins will finally be when Gordon rounds the corner?
