2017 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Staff First Round Mock Draft

2017 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Mock Draft
Chicago Bears – Leigh Oleszczak
Jonathan Allen. 3. player. 57. Jonathan Allen will be the selection for the Bears here, simply because he’s the second best overall talent in the draft. The Bears’ defense showed huge improvement last season and they’ll want to build on that by adding Allen to their ranks. The quarterbacks aren’t worth taking this high, so the Bears go with the safe pick.. Defensive End. Alabama
During Allen’s four years as a member of the Crimson Tide, he registered 28 sacks, including 12 during his junior year in 2015. He had 10.5 this past year. Allen also had 152 tackles with 44.5 of them being for lost yards.
“He’s a really talented pass rusher but he’s always been surrounded by enough talent that it’s been hard for offenses to game plan their protection for him. He’s skilled and very fundamentally sound but I just worry about his size and how he holds up to NFL running games.” ~ NFC director of player personnel
Staff Reaction:
I’m surprised to see Jonathan Allen go ahead of Soloman Thomas, but this isn’t a bad pick at all. Jonathan Allen will give John Fox the cornerstone defender that he needs to run his defense. ~ Ben Almquist
