Kansas City Chiefs: Free Agents To Avoid #8

Paul Kruger – OLB

When the Kansas City Chiefs realized they would need some pass rushing help in 2016, Paul Kruger was one name they looked at. The veteran linebacker has generated a name for himself working in 3-4 defenses. The Chiefs passed on Kruger in 2016, and I say they should do it again this year.

Simply put, Paul Kruger is not all that he is cracked up to be. Outside of solid years in 2012 and 2014, Kruger has not been nearly as effective as some fans might think. Last year for the Saints, he was a virtual non-factor in their defense.

At 31 years old, it is very unlikely that Paul Kruger gets back what he had in 2012 and 2014. While the Chiefs are definitely interested in adding a pass rusher, they can do better than Kruger. KC should look to the draft instead of investing in an older veteran with a spotty track record.
