CJ Spiller – Running Back (Signed)

Kansas City Chiefs fans got a bit of a surprise when it was announced the team had signed running back CJ Spiller. The one-time Bills feature back had bounced around in recent years dealing with injury and lack of productivity. It seemed an interesting move for the Chiefs as the Jamaal Charles rumors continued to swell.

CJ Spiller is the type of running back who fits the Chiefs offense…IF we are talking about the player we saw three or four years ago. However, his most recent performances in the NFL do not lead me to believe that he will be very effective.

I’m thinking that CJ Spiller is essentially just some added competition for Training Camp. He is playing on a veteran minimum contract which means he has very little effect on our salary cap. This is a simple try out for the veteran back, and I don’t think he makes any kind of an impact on the roster.
