JACOREY SHEPHERD (Sixth-Round Pick, 191st Overall in 2015 NFL Draft)

The Kansas Jayhawks actually saw three of their own get drafted in 2015. We already went over Dexter McDonald, but one round before he was selected, his teammate JaCorey Shepherd was taken by an NFL team.

Shepherd was a sixth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, but didn’t have success there. After one season with them, he landed with the 49ers for the 2016 season.

While the 49ers were horrendous in 2016, Shepherd got to see extended action on the field, appearing in ten games for the Niners. He was used on special teams and handled kick returns, taking 21 on the season and averaging 21.7 yards per return.

Shepherd made the most of playing for a bad team by stating his case to stay with the team in 2017 and on.

With two seasons as an NFL pro under his belt, it’ll be interesting to see if JaCorey Shepherd can continue to have a role for the 49ers in the future.
