C+. . OFF. Sporting KC. THE OFFENSE
While there were some interesting attempts, ultimately this was a disappointing night for the offense. I will say that Gerso Fernandes and Dom Dwyer look like they are going to be a force for Sporting KC this year. Both players had some near misses that will eventually find the net. However, you don’t get higher than a C+ in my book without scoring.
DEF. Sporting KC. THE DEFENSE. A-.
On the other end of the field, the defense played some pretty stellar soccer. Sporting KC was able to keep DC United from scoring all night, which is an obvious positive. They also limited DC to nine shots, and only six on goal. Furthermore, the time of possession heavily favored KC, which is an excellent sign for the defense’s ability to clear the ball.
