OPENING DAY – April 6th, 2015

Yordano Ventura impressed during 2014 and was given the ace role in 2015. That led to him being the starter on Opening Day in 2015 and he had himself a nice outing to start off the season.

Ventura likely could have gone longer than his six innings, but a thumb cramp led to his exit in that game. He still only gave up four hits and allowed one run (a home run off of Jose Abreu) before having to leave the game.

Ace was cruising in that game and his offense was backing him up, eventually putting ten runs on the board. This game signified to Royals fans that this team was motivated and was going to do all they could to get themselves back in the World Series and win it.

Ventura helped set the pace for that goal.

He showed that he could be a dominant pitcher for this ball club and he displayed that on Opening Day for all of Royals nation to witness.
