Chiefs Top Raider Week Moments No. 14: Chiefs Respond To Cheap Shot

November 1, 1970

There have been more than a few cheap shots and fights when the Kansas City Chiefs have taken on the Oakland Raiders. However, there may not be any more memorable than Chiefs receiver Otis Taylor flying out of nowhere to throw Raider defensive end Ben Davidson to the ground.

Ben Davidson had just blatantly cheap shotted Chiefs quarterback Len Dawson in a move he later admitted was done with intent to hurt him. The Chiefs didn’t take this too kindly and a bench-clearing brawl ensued. Most observers agree that the Chiefs won the fight. Unfortunately, it would cost the Chiefs the game as the penalties wiped out a crucial first down.

This moment would have been a lot higher on the list had it not been for the result of the game. The visual of Otis Taylor throwing the much larger Ben Davidson to the ground is priceless. However, the end result played to the Raiders favor…which is probably why they have such a history of cheating.
