Cairo Santos

Were it not for a boneheaded decision by Andy Reid to kick a 40+ yard field goal in the pouring rain in Pittsburgh, Cairo Santos would have headed into the bye week with a 100% in field goal and extra point attempts.

Hell, had it not been for Santos’ leg in week two, the Chiefs would have been shut out by the Texans.

Instead, he’s missed one.

Santos has come a long way from missing several kicks to start his rookie year in 2014. Since then, the guy has shown he can be a great kicker in the NFL and has become someone that the Chiefs have started to trust more and more.

Santos has gone seven for eight on field goal attempts this year. Last year, he only missed seven out of 37 attempts and it’s tough to ignore him anymore.

Hell, had it not been for Santos’ leg in week two, the Chiefs would have been shut out by the Texans.

Having a reliable kicker is huge (I think the Chiefs almost know that better than anyone), but it’s nice to be able to relax a little more when it’s time to go for three.
