What LSU Team Shows Up?

Plain and simple, the Missouri Tigers have a special kind of luck to be getting LSU right now.  With Les Miles being fired, it is hard to imagine that the LSU players will be 100% focused right now.  There is no way that a major coaching change like this doesn’t affect the team.  For Missouri, that’s just an opening to take down what is normally an SEC powerhouse.

If, somehow, the LSU coaching staff has this team focused for this game, Mizzou could be in real trouble.  Sometimes teams do respond to major coaching changes positively.  It is rare, but it does happen.  LSU is s till among the best football programs in the country.  Many of these players are going to the NFL.  If they are able to play like that, it’s hard to see Missouri having a chance.

Sometimes the timing of a game is the difference.  We have all heard about “trap games” where a superior team is taken down by a lesser opponent.  It happens quite often.  That’s the threat this game would normally have been for LSU.  With a major distraction provided by their own university heads, the chance for a loss almost doubles.

When I did my season predictions for Mizzou this year, I had penciled this game in as a loss.  However, there is a real chance for a victory here.  That could put Missouri in excellent position to make a run for a bowl game.  It certainly makes a seven win season very possible.  The Missouri Tigers simply have to put the pressure on LSU and not let up until the game is over.
