Missouri Tigers: Three Things To Watch Vs LSU
By Ben Almquist
Will The Defense Hold?
Defense has not been a strength for the Missouri Tigers so far this year. Even with a relatively easy schedule thus far, the Tigers rank towards the bottom in yards allowed. Opponents have been able to move the ball fairly easily against Mizzou. That is a worrisome thought as they prepare to face off against star running back Leonard Fournette.
No one would call LSU an offensive team. In fact, that’s the whole reason why Les Miles was fired. However, any team that features a running back the caliber of Fournette is going to be dangerous. He has big play ability, and can wear down a defense over the course of a game. That will very likely be a major part of the game plan on Saturday.
Mizzou has to contain Leonard Fournette if they want a chance to win. The LSU Tigers are not a good passing team, so putting the pressure on them to throw is key. In fact, if Missouri can make LSU one-dimensional like that, it would almost guarantee a Mizzou victory. That is a big “IF” though.
