How Will Spencer Ware Handle a Larger Load?

Kansas City Chiefs football is built on the running game.  The long list of star backs is impressive and not only continues today, but looks set for the future as well.  In the preseason opener, Spencer Ware showed that he hadn’t lost anything from his impressive performance last season as he had a couple of quality runs and capped off the opening drive with a touchdown.

With both Jamaal Charles and Charcandrick West out this week, Spencer Ware will be carrying the load for much of the day.  He will likely get nearly all of the first half snaps before being relieved by Knile Davis and Darrin Reaves in the second half.

Spencer Ware is probably the likely candidate to be the Chiefs 3rd down and short yardage back this season as he is more of a power runner.  He is also a good counter balance to Jamaal Charles.  Charcandrick West will likely take on the role of primary backup though.  Both positions will be important for the Chiefs, but Ware will likely see the most work this season.
