2016 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks: Number One – Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton was the top point scorer in Fantasy Football for the 2015 season. Right now, there is absolutely no reason to think that he won’t repeat that honor again. Newton will be hungry for redemption after a disappointing finish to the Super Bowl, and woe be to the defense that tries to get in his way.

Even More Weapons. What was truly amazing about Newton’s 2015 performance was the it was done without star receiver Kelvin Benjamin who missed the entire season.  Benjamin will be back for 2016, and that adds a new dimension to the offense that should help increase Newton’s value to fantasy owners.

Super Bowl Hangover? There is always a chance for regression, especially when you are already at the top.  It isn’t unrealistic to think that Cam Newton gave everything he had last year and simply won’t be able to live up to it in 2016.  Playing into that is the fact that last year ended in disappointment, and Super Bowl losers have a less than stellar history in the NFL.

Draft Value – 1st Round: If you want Cam Newton on your team, you had better plan on taking him early on.  With his penchant for scoring touchdowns with his legs, Newton becomes a top tier fantasy weapon.  He will likely be the top scoring player in fantasy this year, so he is the kind of guy that owners will look to build around.
