2016 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks: Number Three – Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars

Surprised? You shouldn’t be.  Blake Bortles is a fast rising star in the NFL quarterback ranks and he is poised to overtake some of the established veterans this year.  Bortles is a talented player in his own right, but that is further compounded by the excellent weapons the team has put around him.  Blake Bortles might not take the Jaguars to the promised land this year, but he could put your Fantasy Football team at the top of your league.

Dangerous Weapons: The Jaguars have given Blake Bortles some awesome toys to play with.  Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns have the potential to be the best wide receiver duo in the NFL (both are coming off of 1000 yard seasons).  Add to that mix a healthy Julius Thomas, and Bortles should be slinging the ball all over the field.

Can The OL Protect Him? The Jaguars have a similar problem as almost every other team in the league…quality offensive linemen are a rare commodity in the NFL these days.  Bortles has some athleticism to him, but he is more at home in the pocket.  That can make him a sitting duck for the more aggressive pass rushing defenses in the league.

Draft Value – 3rd Round: There is a big gap between the top two quarterbacks and the rest of the pack.  Bortles is at the head of that pack in my book, so grab him in the third round and you should be good.  There isn’t much downside to Bortles, so you don’t have to worry about not getting your value here.
