2016 Fantasy Football Defenses: Number 11 – New York Jets

Last season the New York Jets got a new head coach. Former defensive coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Todd Bowles. Bowles is a defensive first head coach. He has a few studs to work with.

The Jets have a few defenders who stand out among the rest. They are pass rushers, Muhammad Wilkerson and cornerback, Darrelle Revis. These two will rack up points for fantasy football teams everywhere.

Wilkerson raked up 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, and 39 tackles last season. The big defensive linemen batted down seven balls at the line of scrimmage as well. The man is a force to be reckoned with for opposing offenses. Wilkerson puts the pressure on quarterbacks while Revis reaps the rewards.

More from Fantasy Football

Revis intercepted five passes, deflected nine balls and recovered four fumbles. The 31-year-old is considered one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He’s intercepted 28 passes and scored three touchdowns in his career.

With these two studs anchoring the defense for the Jets, expect a few good games from New York’s defense and special teams unit this season.

The Jets had ten games where the defense/special teams unit scored eight points or more. The Jets scored a team-high 14 points twice last season. The scored the total against the Colts on the road in week two and again versus the Dallas Cowboys in week 15.

The Jets tallied 18 fumble recovery’s last season while receiving zero interceptions for touchdowns. The Jets picked off 18 passes and added 38 sacks on defense in 2015.

The team doesn’t have a favorable schedule this season. The Jets have eight bad, three good and five decent match-ups this season. Don’t let the schedule scare you into not using the Jets defense at least once this season as a spot start. The big names should come through the majority of the time.

With all the talent on this team, expect them to stay consistent for fantasy football.  Don’t be afraid to pick this team up and plug and play solid defense when your regular defense is on a bye or has a bad match-up.
