Kansas City Chiefs Players On The Roster Bubble – Number Four: Anthony Sherman

The Kansas City Chiefs made a trade in 2013 that angered a lot of fans when they gave up a popular cornerback for a fullback nobody knew.  That trade paid off though as Anthony Sherman has been one of the best fullbacks and Special Teams players in the NFL since.  However, the Chiefs may have reached a point where his services are no longer needed.

What has Anthony Sherman done to earn a spot on this list?  Absolutely nothing.  This is just a simple matter of the fullback position not being as important as it once was, even with a run-heavy offense like the Chiefs.  Sherman only saw the field for 17% of the offensive snaps in 2015.

Sherman still has value as a Special Teams player, but that can only carry so far on an NFL roster.  There are always young players coming up in the league that can play Special Teams for a lot less money than the Chiefs are paying Anthony Sherman.  Without adding to his offensive value, I just don’t see how the team justifies keeping him on board.
