KU Basketball Big Men: Carlton Bragg, Jr.

Carlton Bragg offers something that the departing Pery Ellis never did. As good as Ellis was most of the time, he was a stoic player who seldom let his emotions show.

Bragg is just the opposite. He is a joyful, enthusiastic, emotional player. He may not be as polished as Ellis, but he does offer a skill set that should blossom with more playing time.

Bragg looks to be an ideal passer from the top of Self’s favored high/low offense. He can also hit the 15-foot jumper from the free throw line required of that offense from that position. He can even stretch the defenses at times as he did by hitting four of his seven three-point attempts as a freshman.

He (Bragg) is a joyful, enthusiastic, emotional player.

Bragg just got better and better as the season went along last year, playing in all 38 games. With another offseason to get stronger and to work on his overall game, he should be ready to step into Ellis’ starting spot.

It will be very surprising if Bragg isn’t a starter when the season gets underway.

He may not ever be the polished scorer Ellis was, but he offers a well-rounded game that could be very exciting to watch. He needs to be stronger around the rim, but with his passing and shooting skills, Bragg should be set for an explosive season for the Jayhawks.
