1st Pick: Laremy Tunsil | Left Tackle

I don’t think there was any way to better prepare you for the absurdity that is this trade.

The KC Chiefs would have to trade three consecutive first round picks to acquire Laremy Tunsil.

In addition to these first rounders, the KC Chiefs would have to give up a total of nine draft picks just to match the total assigned value of the Tennessee Titans’ first overall pick (3,000).

The KC Chiefs offensive line is nowhere near the point of this kind of desperation.

  • Looking at this trade makes you feel that much better about Eric Fisher.

Fisher is not a perfect player, but at least the KC Chiefs didn’t have to give up the shirts off their back to get him.

The fact that Fisher is a number one overall pick himself would most certainly discourage the KC Chiefs from drafting any other left tackle in the first round.

If the KC Chiefs were to liquidate all of their future assets, there are definitely better routes with much bigger payoff than a single player.

Don’t get me wrong, Tunsil would immediately turn a below average position for the KC Chiefs into a strength.

In addition, moving Fisher inside could help ease the loss of Jeff Allen‘s run blocking presence.

Although the KC Chiefs offensive line was a formidable run blocking unit, they finished 28th in defense adjusted rate of sacks allowed.

Slotting Tunsil in at the KC Chiefs blind side would instantly improve the offensive line’s pass protection, but it is without a doubt not worth the cost.
