Kansas Jayhawks All-Time Rushing Yards Leaders Number 15: Arnold Snell

Arnold Snell played fullback and was a team captain for the Jayhawks on some teams that didn’t win many games, according to the Kansas Athletic Department. Kansas won just five games in Snell’s three seasons.

In his career, Snell compiled some nice stats.

  • Rushing Yards – 1,758
  • Carries – 434
  • Rushing Touchdowns – 9
  • Yards per Carry – 4.1
  • Total Yards from Scrimmage – 2,050
  • Total Touchdowns – 11

His best rushing season came in 1987 when ran for 691 yards. A season earlier, he compiled 922 yards from scrimmage and scored five touchdowns.

Snell is only of only 19 Jayhawks to rush for more than 1,500 yards in his career. His 184 rushing attempts in 1987 were the third-most in the Big 8 Conference.
