  • The 1997 Kansas State football team took down the 1971 Kansas City Royals in the first round. What was so special about the ’97 K-State squad? Well, they won the Fiesta Bowl that year by a score of 38-15 over a Syracuse led Donovan McNabb team. Might I just throw out there that Syracuse’s mascot is an orange? Shouldn’t they have been playing in the Orange Bowl?

The 2004 Kansas City Wizards made it all the way to the MLS Cup, but lost to D.C. United by a score of 3-2. Despite making it to a championship, the Wiz were voted as a 13 seed in this bracket, and only beat their opponent (fourth seeded 1960 Missouri football) in round one by seven votes.

Will the 13-seeded KC Wiz be able to force another upset, or will K-State see an early exit from the tournament?
