Dante Hall was technically listed as a wide receiver, but he definitely won’t be remembered for that. What Dante Hall will be remembered for was his ability to return kicks and punts. He was without a doubt the best return man in Kansas City Chiefs history. Don’t believe me? Well, for one, you’re crazy, and two, let’s check out Hall’s stats.

In seven years as the Chiefs’ returner, he had 2,261 punt return yards and 10,136 kick return yards. Wowzas. He also had five punts and six kickoffs returned for touchdowns in his career, which is insane.

Hall’s best years were from about 2002-2004. 2002 and 2003 saw Hall making his two Pro Bowls, and 2003 was also when he had two punts and two kickoffs returned for touchdowns. His longest punt return was 93 yards and his longest kick return was 100 yards. In 2004, Hall had 1,718 kickoff return yards, a career high.

Looking at Hall’s career awards, it’s not difficult to argue him as one of the best in the biz (Awards courtesy of Wikipedia).

  • 2× Pro Bowl (2002, 2003)
  • 2× All-Pro (2002, 2003)
  • NFL Alumni Special Teams Player of the Year (2003)
  • NFL 2000s All-Decade Team
  • NFL’s Third All-Time Kickoff Return Touchdown Leader (6)
  • NFL’s Fifth All-Time Punt Return Touchdown Leader (6)
  • Ranked 10th on NFL Network’s NFL Top 10 Return Aces

Hall was eventually traded to the other NFL team in the state for a third and fifth round draft pick. He only played with the Rams for two seasons before he injured himself and wasn’t signed by a team. He was out of the league after 2008.

Dante Hall was so much fun to watch in the early to mid 2000s that he had to be on this list. It’ll be interesting to see if De’Anthony Thomas will end up with more returned touchdowns in his career, but no Chiefs fan will ever forget Dante Hall and his incredible return game.
