Brian Hartline – Wide Receiver

Brian Hartline would most likely be a better option than Welker, but I’m not really sold on him being a true number one or two receiver, which the Chiefs now desperately need. He has had some success in Miami posting two 1,000 yard seasons in 2012 and 2013.

I don’t think he isn’t talented, but the Chiefs can specifically get a potential primary receiver in this draft.

Last season saw him getting limited playing time as the Dolphins favored playing Mike Wallace and Jarvis Landry. According to NFL.com, Hartline is the 96th best available free agent on the market.

One thing that sticks out to me about Hartline is that he doesn’t have the breakaway speed that teams usually look for in a true number one receiver. In his 1,000 yard seasons he usually made his plays with comebacks, slants, drags, and the occasional fade route.

Again, I don’t think he isn’t talented, but the Chiefs can specifically get a potential primary receiver in this draft. Hartline would only be a decent option due to the fact that he’s affordable. I still say stay away though. Hartline won’t be a prime target for Alex Smith.
