Week 12: Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders

The Chiefs will make their appearance on Thursday Night Football on the road (third year in-a-row) at old-time rival, the Oakland Raiders.

Oakland spent some money this off-season, because they had too.

They signed Lamarr Woodley, Matt Schaub, Maurice Jones-Drew, Justin Tuck, Antonio Smith, and Carlos Rogers. The Raiders should be improved in 2014 based on those signings alone.

The Schaub experiment is the one that intrigues me most. Oakland sort-of became the island for misfit toys, if you will, and Schaub is the head elf. After a somewhat successful career in Houston, the Texans tossed him to the side after a 2-14 season. I’m very interested to see what he has left in the tank.

The other is MJD, who has wanted out of Jacksonville for the last few years because A.) they wouldn’t pay him and B.) they couldn’t win football games. Why he signed with Oakland? I guess to be closer to home, as he attended UCLA during his college years.

They already had a stingy little defense, well, the first half of the season that is, and they added Lamarr Woodley, Carlos Rogers, and first round pick Khalil Mack.

Where Oakland got a lot better was on the defensive side of the ball. They already had a stingy little defense, well, the first half of the season that is, and they added Lamarr Woodley, Carlos Rogers, and first round pick Khalil Mack.

Woodley and Mack could be a dangerous combo for the Raiders if they use them right.

So while yes, the Raiders are better, I don’t think they’re playoff bound better and I see KC going on the road during a short week and getting this win. Especially after dropping a tough one at home to the Seachickens.

Chiefs win, 24-10.
