The Kansas City Chiefs have some other weaknesses. Their defensive ends will not scare too many offensive lines. The Chiefs also have a big hole at the inside linebacker spot opposite Derrick Johnson.

Johnson’s and Tamba Hali‘s ages may start to come into play this season. Hali is covered, at least in theory, with first round pick Dee Ford. The hope is that Ford can spell Hali throughout games, and keep both fresh.

  • Kansas City does have some terrific strengths as well. Jamaal Charles is one of the best talents in the league. Alex Smith has developed into a solid game manager, who might be even more than that with a better receiving corps.

The Chiefs also have a relentless pass rush with Hali and his bookend, Justis Houston. They have a developing star in nose tackle Dontari Poe.

Knile Davis looks to be a top notch option to Charles, and Joe McKnight is an intriguing option as a third running back. Lastly, Andy Reid is a good coach.

This team has a very solid foundation. The question is if the players chosen by Dorsey and Reid can play better this season than the talented players they are replacing. If they don’t, the Chiefs are going to be in for a long, long season.

If these players do develop in a positive manner, then the Chiefs should be in very good shape.

Training camp is going to be full of interesting stories and plenty of players to keep an eye one. It shouldn’t be a boring few weeks at all.
