Penalties/Yardage: 2 accepted penalties for 13 yards

Sacks Allowed: 2

Mid-Season Grade: B-

The Chiefs have spent several high draft picks the past few seasons to put together this young offensive front. Allen was the Chiefs 44th overall pick in 2012 and has been solid so far as a starter. At times, Allen seems to get blown off the ball, or as I like to say, he plays like he’s got roller skates on. His size and above average technique help him to recover quick enough when he does get beat, thus keeping his sack and penalty numbers low.

Allen, and the rest of the offensive line, seems to get stronger as the game progresses. Because of his ability to keep the sacks and penalties to a minimum, I gave Allen a B- for his mid-season grade. If Allen continues to progress the way he has, the Chiefs might have found their long term guy at left guard.
